CARDIAC SURGERY

In bypass surgery, the cardiac surgeon removes a healthy blood vessel from the leg or from the chest wall and replaces the damaged or blocked portion of the artery of the heart.

For replacing faulty valves of the heart, both biological tissue and mechanical valves are used. It is evident from the name that mechanical valves are artificial elements which have the same purpose as a natural heart valve.

The Bentall procedure is a kind of cardiac surgery to rectify, correct problems with aortic valves, aortic roots, and ascending aorta. Through the Bentall procedure damaged aorta is replaced and coronary arteries are re-implanted into the graft.
